Terms and Conditions
1. General
1.1 These terms and conditions govern all bookings and courses provided by Edinburgh Motorcycle Training (referred to as “the School”).
1.2 By booking a course with the School, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
2. Eligibility
2.1 You must hold a valid UK driving licence (full or provisional) to participate in our CBT or DAS courses.
2.2 You must present your driving licence and the appropriate entitlements at the start of your course. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the session without a refund.
3. Clothing and Equipment
3.1 For your safety, all participants must wear appropriate clothing and footwear, including:
• A motorcycle helmet that meets legal safety standards (provided by the School if required).
• Sturdy gloves (no open-finger or thin gloves).
• Sturdy trousers (e.g., jeans or motorcycle trousers—shorts are not permitted).
• A thick jacket (preferably motorcycle-specific).
• Strong, ankle-covering footwear (e.g., boots—trainers or sandals are not allowed).
3.2 The School can provide helmets, gloves and jackets, but availability is limited. Participants are encouraged to bring their own.
3.3 Failure to wear appropriate clothing may result in exclusion from the course, and no refund will be issued.
4. Course Attendance
4.1 All participants must arrive on time for their scheduled sessions. Late arrival may result in the session being cancelled, and no refund will be given.
4.2 You must notify the School in advance of any medical conditions or physical limitations that could affect your participation in the course.
5. Payment and Booking
5.1 Full payment is required at the time of booking any course except DAS, to secure your place on a course. For DAS courses, one third of the course fee is due at the time of booking, one third is due on the start day of the course, and the final payment is due on the fourth day of the course.
5.2 Payment can be made online or over the phone.
6. Cancellation/rescheduling policy applicable to all courses
6.1 More than 21 days prior to the start date of the course, 100% refund, less £25 admin fee.
More than 14 days prior to the start date of the course, 75% refund, less £25 admin fee.
More than 7 days prior to the start date of the course, 50% refund, less £25 admin fee.
Fewer than 7 days prior to the start of the course, 0% refund, plus £25 admin fee.
6.2 If the School is able to fill a course cancelled by a student, the full amount above may not be charged, but this will be strictly at the discretion of the School.
6.3 Cancellations by the School:
• The School reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., weather conditions or instructor illness). In such cases, customers will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
6.4 Refunds are not available if a participant fails to attend their booked session or fails to bring the required documentation (e.g. driving licence, and for DAS students, in-date theory and CBT certificates).
7. Safety and Conduct
7.1 The School reserves the right to refuse training to any participant deemed unfit to ride, including anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
7.2 Participants must follow all instructor guidance and safety protocols. Failure to comply may result in removal from the course without refund.
7.3 Any damage to School equipment may result in a charge to the participant to cover the costs of repair.
8. Liability
8.1 The School will not be held liable for any personal injury, loss or damage unless caused by the negligence of the School or its instructors.
8.2 Participation in motorcycle training carries inherent risks. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate insurance coverage if required.
9. Complaints
9.1 If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the course, please notify the instructor or the School’s management immediately so the issue can be resolved promptly.
10. Governing Law
10.1 These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland.
