1. What is CBT?
CBT stands for Compulsory Basic Training. It's a mandatory course for new motorcycle riders in the UK, designed to ensure you can ride safely on the road.

2. Who needs to take CBT?
You need to take CBT if you want to ride a moped (up to 50cc) or a motorcycle up to 125cc with a power output of up to 11kW. You must be at least 16 years old for mopeds and 17 years old for motorcycles.

3. What does the CBT course cover?
The course includes both classroom instruction and practical on-road training. You'll learn essential riding skills, road safety, and legal requirements.

4. How long does the CBT course take?
The CBT course typically takes a day to complete, but it can vary depending on the training centre and your progress.

5. What do I need to bring to the course?
Valid UK provisional or full driving licence
Suitable protective clothing (trousers, gloves, sturdy footwear)
Helmets can be provided but bring your own if you have one.

6. Do I need my own motorcycle for the course?
You can use your own motorcycle if it meets the requirements (insured, road-worthy condition, valid MOT certificate if applicable, road tax, and L-plates). Alternatively, the training centre will provide motorcycles.

7. What if I don't pass the CBT course?
CBT is not a test that you pass or fail. However, if your trainer feels you're not ready to ride safely, they can stop the course. You may need to retake the course and pay again.

8. What happens after I complete CBT?
After completing CBT, you can ride a moped or motorcycle on the road with L-plates. You must pass your full moped or motorcycle test within 2 years, or you'll need to retake CBT.

9. How much does the CBT course cost?
The cost of the CBT course varies depending on the training centre and location. It's best to check with the centre directly for accurate pricing.

FAQ for DAS Motorcycle Course

1. What is DAS?
DAS stands for Direct Access Scheme. It's a course designed for experienced riders who want to ride motorcycles over 125cc and 11kW power output without restrictions.

2. Who is eligible for DAS?
You must be at least
17 to sit an A1 licence for a 125cc.
19 to sit an A2 licence allowing you you ride a motorcycle up to 47bhp
From the age of 21 if you hold an A2 you can sit the A licence test or
24 to sit a full A licence.
You must also have a valid CBT certificate and theory test certificate, both of which need to be produced at training and subsequently taken to test.

3. What does the DAS course cover?
The course includes both theoretical and practical training. You'll learn advanced riding skills, road safety, hazard perception, and legal requirements.

4. How long does the DAS course take?
The duration of the DAS course can vary depending on the training centre and your progress, but it typically takes a few weeks to complete.

5. What do I need to bring to the course?
Valid UK provisional or full driving licence. You are encouraged to bring your own suitable protective clothing (jacket, trousers, gloves, boots). We can provide helmets.

6. Do I need my own motorcycle for the course?
No, motorcycles are supplied as part of the course.

7. What tests are included in the DAS course?
The DAS course includes two tests:
Module 1: A controlled test environment assessing slow control, weaving in and out of cones, and hazard avoidance.
Module 2: A road-ride portion lasting around 40 minutes, where you'll be assessed on your riding skills and ability to follow instructions from the examiner.

8. How much does the DAS course cost?
The cost of the DAS course varies depending on the training centre and location. It's best to check with the centre directly for accurate pricing.

9. What happens after I complete DAS?
After completing DAS, you'll receive a full unrestricted motorcycle licence, allowing you to ride any motorcycle.

10. Can I ride without a DAS certificate?
No, riding without a valid DAS certificate can result in a fine of up to £1,000 and up to 6 penalty points on your licence.

11. What happens if I have to resit Mod 1 or 2?
Any resit costs are not included in the initial price.

The cost of a Mod 1 resit will be £23 (test fee) plus any additional training required and rental of motorcycle and instructor at £50 per hour.
You have to wait 3 working days before re-sitting your Mod 1 test.

The cost of a Mod 2 test will be £77(test fee) plus any additional training required the rental of motorcycle and the instructor at £50 per hour.
You have to wait 10 working days before re-sitting your Mod 2 test.
